0016, City bench
A proposal for a bench that explores two faces of construction in the City of London (and further afield), presenting first it’s finished side, a manifestation of the crisp and clean architecture of the City and then on closer inspection revealing it’s inner structure, constructed from excess construction materials salvaged from nearby sites.
The design of this bench draws from the form as and materials of the context of the city it will reside in. The Cities eclectic mix of high and low rise architecture directly inspires the arrangement of the bench. The underlying neutral pallet of materials, with a joyful pop of colour, is inspired by buildings such as the Leadenhall Building.
